Kuwait becomes Taiwan’s top oil supplier

Singapore—Kuwait displaced Saudi Arabia as Taiwan’s top supplier of foreign crude in November 2014, as volumes from the OPEC kingpin tumbled almost 50% year on year and 41.3% from October to 181,904 b/d, data from the Customs Administration under the Ministry of Finance showed this week. Its purchases from Kuwait rose 4.6% year on year to 202,803 b/d. The higher volumes of Kuwait crude should come as no surprise. While Platts does not track Taiwan margins, those for the grade in Singapore have jumped so far in January, as world crude prices continue to tumble.
