Germany restarts gas deliveries to Ukraine

London—German utility RWE has begun sending natural gas to Ukraine for the first time this year as Europe looks to preempt the possibility of Russia acting on threats to cut off supplies to Kiev amid a mounting diplomatic crisis. So-called reverse-flow deliveries of gas via Poland were restarted under a contract signed by Kiev and RWE almost two years ago, the German energy company said Tuesday. “Today RWE re-starts deliveries to the state-owned company Naftogaz of Ukraine with gas from its pan-European portfolio,” it said.
