Turkey hopes for Kurdish peace to explore in Iraq

Istanbul-Turkey will explore for oil and gas in two regions in northern Iraq if a proposed peace deal between Turkey and the Kurdish separatist group the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) is successful, Turkish energy minister Taner Yildiz said Monday. Turkey’s state news agency Anatolia cited Yildiz saying that a potential peace deal between Ankara and the PKK would allow Turkey to start exploring in the Hindiirin and Coman regions of northwestern Iraq, close to the Iranian border.
