Essar’s refining margin outdoes benchmark

London—Essar Oil, India’s second-largest private refiner, Monday reported a currentprice gross refining margin of $7.93/barrel for the October-December quarter, down 19% compared to $9.75/b in the same period the previous year. However, Essar Oil’s GRM showed an improvement over the benchmark IEA refining margin during the quarter, which was minus $1.4/b versus $0.76/b in the corresponding quarter last year.
