ExxonMobil to develop P’nyang gas for power, LNG

Sydney—The P’nyang gas field in Papua New Guinea is to be developed to provide gas for power generation and an expansion of Exxon- Mobil’s PNG LNG project, which could include the addition of a third production train, the company said in a statement Friday. ExxonMobil’s local subsidiary has struck a deal with the PNG government under which it will supply up to 20,000 Mcf/d of domestic natural gas for 20 years to support improvements to the capacity and reliability of the country’s power supply. The agreement is in addition to an existing gas supply commitment from the Hides field for domestic power generation.
