PNG LNG likely to sell first cargo in spot market

Perth—The first cargo from ExxonMobil’s new 6.9 million mt/year Papua New Guinea LNG plant near Port Moresby is likely to be sold in the spot market, project executive Decie Autin said Wednesday. Speaking on the sidelines of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association’s annual conference in Perth, Western Australia, Autin said more than 95% of PNG LNG’s capacity was covered by its long-term contracts. The project has sales agreements in place with Tokyo Electric Power Company, Osaka Gas, Sinopec and CPC.
