Shell scraps 2014 Alaska drilling plans

Anchorage—Shell said Thursday it would scrap its 2014 drilling program in Alaska’s Chukchi Sea, a decision that put in doubt other efforts to explore for oil and gas in the frigid waters of the Arctic frontier. But one of Alaska’s senators said the US Interior Department has made addressing the legal issues that led to Shell’s decision a priority.
