Ophir fails to hit gas with Tanzania deepwater well

London—Africa-focused explorer Ophir Energy has failed to find gas with a closely-watched, deepwater exploration well offshore Tanzania. UK-listed Ophir said Thursday the Mlinzi Mbali-1 well in Block 7 in the Northern Tanzanian offshore basin found water-bearing target structures in the prospects’ Cretaceous reservoir targets.
