Brazil approves BG’s sale to Thailand’s PTTEP

Rio de Janeiro—Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency, or ANP, approved BG’s sale of stakes in four offshore blocks to Thailand’s PTTEP, marking the Thai company’s first foray into Brazil. Under terms of the deal first announced in April, the local unit of PTTEP will buy a 25% stake in the BAR-M-215, BAR-M-217, BAR-M-252 and BAR-M-254 blocks in the Barreirinhas Basin. BG Brasil owned 100% of the deepwater blocks off Brazil’s northeast coast after submitting the winning bids at last year’s 11th round auction of exploration and production concessions.
