Murphy Oil starts up Siakap North-Petai oil field

Kuala Lumpur—US’ Murphy Oil announced Monday first oil production from the Siakap North-Petai development offshore Malaysia. Output started February 27, the company said. Murphy operates the development with a 32% stake, alongside Shell and ConocoPhillips, which each have 21% interest. Stateowned Petronas’ upstream arm Petronas Carigali holds the remaining 26%. Siakap North-Petai is a tieback to the existing deepwater Kikeh field in block K. Murphy said initial production started with four wells but the overall field development plan consists of eight producer wells and five water injection wells.
