BHP eyes potential of Mexico’s Eagle Ford

Houston—Like many upstream peers that are operating in Texas, Australia’s BHP Billiton is probing the potential of operating in the Mexican Eagle Ford Shale, if the country’s geology and terms pan out, Rod Skaufel, the company’s president of shale assets, said Monday. “We’re looking at the possibility of taking the Eagle Ford south of the border into Mexico,” Skaufel said at a press luncheon. “We think Mexico will go slower rather than faster and we think they have security concerns. But we’re looking at it.”
