Houston—Producers in North Dakota’s Bakken Shale still may favor rail as the play’s premier takeaway method even after new pipeline capacity comes online, executives with Dakota Plains Holdings’ said Friday. “The bottom line is that we see strong fundamentals for Bakken growth, and crude by rail remains a strong component for takeaway even if new pipeline capacity comes online,” Gabe Claypool, Dakota Plains’ president and chief operating officer, said Friday in a quarterly earnings call.
