Petrobras starts well test at Iara subsalt field

Rio de Janeiro—Brazilian state-led oil company Petrobras has started a long-term well test at the offshore Iara subsalt field, continuing a string of recent production startups as the firm works to reach its target of boosting crude oil output by 7.5% in 2014, the company said. The Dynamic Producer floating storage, production and offloading vessel started production from Iara on June 21, Petrobras said in a regulatory filing late Monday. The first production from Iara was from a single well that produced about 29,000 b/d, in line with the other highly productive wells in Brazil’s offshore subsalt region.
