Buenos Aires—Argentina’s government has authorized increases of as much as 6% this month in diesel and gasoline prices and told retailers who have imposed larger hikes to reduce them to within the permitted limits. Economy Minister Axel Kicillof announced the increases in a televised news conference late Wednesday, saying the new prices are to take effect Thursday. He said the increases came after talks with oil producers, refiners and retailers led to a voluntary agreement.
