Buenos Aires—Argentina’s state-run energy company YPF and Chevron said last week that they have signed agreements to continue developing shale oil and natural gas resources in Argentina, including in a new exploratory effort. The decision comes after the companies completed a pilot production project at Loma Campana, targeting the giant Vaca Muerta play in the southwestern province of Neuquen. “Vaca Muerta could become an important contributor to Chevron’s long-term production growth,” George Kirkland, vice chairman of Chevron, said in a statement.
