Ethanol output down in key Brazil region

Rio de Janeiro-Ethanol output in Brazil’s Center-South growing region plummeted in the first half of December as sugar mills expected to wrap up this year’s harvest in time for Christmas, according to data released by sugarcane-grower’s association UNICA. Sugar mills produced 492 million liters of ethanol in the December 1-15 period, a 39.1% decline from the 809 million liters produced in the same period of 2013, UNICA said.
