Brunei could get new refinery in 2017

Singapore-Hengyi Industries, a Bruneibased subsidiary of Chinese polyester manufacturer Zhejiang Hengyi Group, is aiming to commission its planned $4.2 billion refinery and aromatics plant in Brunei by the end 2017, but said the final timeline hinges on a power supply agreement with the Brunei government. “The Brunei government has committed to building a power plant to supply power to the refinery,” P.C Huang, director of Hengyi Industries, said at the Downstream and Petro- Chemical Asia 2014 conference in Singapore Thursday. “A clearer timeline for the refinery will emerge once that agreement is signed.”
