Andes Energia finds oil with YPF in Argentina shale

Buenos Aires—Andes Energia said Monday it has found conventional and unconventional oil resources on a field in western Argentina it is drilling in a joint venture with the country’s state-run energy company YPF. Andes said the find was made at the Las Varillas x-1 well on the El Manzano West block in the Argentine province of Mendoza, according to a filing with the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange. The well showed “a persistent presence of oil” in a 410-foot stretch of the giant Vaca Muerta shale play, the company said.
