Canada issues final report on rail disaster

Calgary—The Transportation Safety Board of Canada on Tuesday recommended two new steps to make a growing crude-by-rail business in the country safer as part of its final report on last summer’s fatal Lac Megantic rail accident. But the agency stopped short of making new suggestions on the contentious issue of an “erroneous” crude oil classification that was a major factor behind derailment and explosion that killed 47 people.
