Statoil suffers quarterly loss on prices, writedown

London-Norway’s Statoil - which lost its highprofile CEO, Helge Lund, to the UK’s BG Group earlier this month - reported an even operational third quarter with output nudging down 1%, though lower oil prices and impairments pushed the group into a surprise Q3 net loss. Statoil said Wednesday that Q3 oil and gas production came in at 1.829 million b/d of oil equivalent, compared with 1.852 million boe/d for the third quarter last year.
