Washington—Recent US Commerce Department rulings giving two Eagle Ford players legal justification to export processed condensate will have a rather limited impact, despite speculation that these rulings could apply to potentially all domestic crude, a lawyer for one of the companies said Monday. Jacob Dweck, a partner with the energy group at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, cautioned that the rulings applied only to lease condensate which has undergone a “substantial distillation process” and resulted in separate streams of petroleum products, which would not be subject to US restrictions on crude exports.
