London—Kurdish Peshmerga armed forces on Friday seized control of key oil fields in northern Iraq, raising the temperature in an already volatile row between Erbil and Baghdad over the semi-autonomous enclave’s status within federal Iraq. The move, which drew threats of “serious consequences” from Baghdad, came a day after the Iraqi oil ministry ordered its stateowned North Oil Company to dismantle the valves of a pipeline linking Kirkuk’s Khormala and Avana domes.
