Mexican reforms to impact global oil flows

Houston—More Mexican crude, flowing as the result of a major reform of the country’s energy sector, could mean more imports to the US, and that could change the global flow of crude, a veteran oil analyst said. Mexico, which now produces about 2.5 million b/d, could boost that to roughly 3.5 million or so by around 2025 with help from international oil companies eager to exploit the country’s oil sector that’s been an upstream monopoly for decades. That’s the view of Sarah Emerson, president of market research and advisory consultants Energy Security Analysis, Inc, who spoke at the Argus Americas Crude Summit late Tuesday.
