Iran sets deadline on Azadegan contract

Tehran—China’s CNPC has less than two months to speed up work on a key upstream oil project or lose the contract, after the clock on a 90-day deadline began ticking more than a month ago, Iranian oil minister Bijan Zanganeh said at the weekend. Iranian officials have complained regularly about CNPC, which is developing both North and South Azadegan, and another Chinese company, Sinopec, which is in charge of Yadaveran. Both onshore fields straddle the border with Iraq and are among several “shared fields,” the development of which Zanganeh has made a top priority.
