Spain’s Repsol closes sale of LNG assets to Shell

London—Repsol has closed a $4.1 billion deal to sell its non-US LNG business to Shell, a key plank in the Spanish major’s efforts to strengthen its balance sheet as it rebuilds its upstream footprint overseas. The final price tag for the sale, however, came in below the original $4.4 billion headline figure when the deal was first announced in February 2013, the companies said Thursday. The adjustments reflect the value and the financial performance of the assets since the deal became effective in late 2012, the companies said.
