Potential grows in Espirito Santo Basin: Petrobras

Rio de Janeiro-Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency, or ANP, received notification of three oil and natural gas discoveries from state-run oil company Petrobras, including additional hydrocarbon shows in two wells in the Espirito Santo Basin where finds were reported in recent weeks, the ANP’s website showed Friday. While it’s not uncommon for oil companies to find multiple signs of oil and natural gas in a single well as the drilling traverses several potential oil-bearing zones, the latest reports could significantly boost interest in the Espirito Santo Basin where several were made. The basin lies in Brazil’s so-called Eastern Margin, which will be a focus of next year’s 13th round auction of exploration and production concessions.
