IEA sees higher demand for OPEC crude

London—OPEC will need to pump an average of 30.9 million b/d in the third and fourth quarters of 2014 to meet global demand projections, the International Energy Agency said Friday. That is an increase of 150,000 b/d on the IEA’s estimate from last month. In its latest monthly oil market report, the IEA said global demand is set to rise sharply toward the end of 2014, meaning the “call” on OPEC crude will also rise.
