Houston—Shell has begun oil production at its Cardamom development in the US Gulf of Mexico, the second major deepwater facility the company has brought online in the area this year following startup of Mars B in February, the company said Monday. Crude oil from Cardamom, which is expected to have a production capacity of 50,000 b/d of oil equivalent, will be piped through Shell’s Auger platform. When the field hits full output, Auger’s total output capacity will rise to roughly 130,000 boe/d, Shell said.
