Singapore—Thailand’s refiners largely cut their run rates in the first quarter of this year due to a combination of weaker refinery margins and scheduled maintenance. With the exception of ThaiOil, the country’s biggest refiner, and state-owned PTT Global Chemical, all other companies reported lower utilization rates during the period. Esso Thailand on Friday noted that overall industry product price movements “generally decreased more than crude prices resulting in weaker industry margins.”
