Canada oil sands exports to Europe likely

Calgary—Oil sands exports from Alberta to Europe and India, which are currently only at an initial stage, will likely see a jump over the coming “few years” with pipelines being completed from the province to both Canadian Atlantic and Pacific coasts, a senior industry official said Monday. “We are already getting EOIs [expressions of interests] out of India and Europe for the 1.1 million b/d Energy East pipeline even before a NEB [federal regulator National Energy Board] application has been filed by pipeline operator TransCanada,” Greg Stringham, vice president with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, said in an interview.
