New York—Oil futures settled sharply lower Thursday after the Sharara oil field in western Libya restarted following three months of protests, and industry talk pointed to a surge in crude stockpiles at the Cushing, Oklahoma, storage hub last week. NYMEX February crude settled $2.98 lower at $95.44/barrel. The contract dipped to a session low of $95.34/b just before the close.
