Pakistan approves LNG terminal tolling fee

Karachi—Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee has accepted Elengy Terminal’s proposal to charge $0.66/MMBtu as a tolling fee for its LNG terminal to be set up at Port Qasim in Karachi, a move which could see Pakistan get its first LNG import facility built before the year ends. The ECC, the country’s highest decision making body, last year approved three LNG projects—SSGC’s LPG Retrofit Project; Elengy Terminal’s Fast Track LNG project; and a third LNG import terminal for which a construction tender has yet to be issued. Once completed, the three projects will enable Pakistan to import up to 1.7 Bcf/d of gas.
