New York—NYMEX July crude settled 83 cents higher at $107.26/barrel upon expiry Friday, while the rest of the oil complex drifted slightly lower. Friday’s close is the highest settle for a front-month crude contract since September 18, 2013, when the settle was $108.07/b. NYMEX August crude settled 78 cents higher at $106.83/b, but ICE August Brent closed down 25 cents at $114.81/b. This narrowed the front-month August Brent-WTI spread to $7.98/b from $8.63/b the day before.
