India imports 6.5 million mt Iran crude since April

New Delhi—India has so far imported around 6.5 million mt of Iranian crude oil in the April- November period, worth $1.8 billion. The period is the country’s financial year which started April 1. The figures were provided by a senior ministry official who was speaking on the sidelines of an oil industry event in New Delhi on Tuesday. New Delhi would like to import 11 million mt oil from Iran in the full fiscal year, down from 13.3 million mt in 2012-2013, he said. Last week India’s oil secretary said India would like to almost double crude imports from Iran, back to the volumes lifted in 2009-10.
