Occidental sees gains in US Permian Basin

Houston—Like many of its peers, Occidental Petroleum is increasingly turning to horizontal drilling techniques to grow production in the Permian Basin. Los Angeles-based Oxy expects to boost production in the play, which spans parts of West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, by as much as 13%-16% this year and “in excess of 20% going forward,” CEO Stephen Chazen said during an earnings call on Monday.
