Santos to face court on coalseam water spill

Sydney—Australian gas producer Santos is scheduled to return to court on September 20 to face allegations that it failed to report a spill from a coalseam water treatment facility operated at the time by Eastern Star Gas, which was acquired by the company in November 2011. The proceedings were launched June 11 by the New South Wales Department of Trade and Investment. The case came before the Land and Environment Court for a preliminary hearing on July 26, a company spokesman said this week.
