Senex, QGC agree on Surat Basin gas asset swap

Sydney—Australian onshore oil and gas producer Senex Energy has agreed to swap its holdings in Queensland’s Surat Basin with BG Group subsidiary QGC, the company said Wednesday. Under the terms of the non-cash deal, Senex will transfer its minority interest in eastern Surat Basin permits PL 171 and ATP 574P2 to a joint venture led by QGC. In turn, the QGC joint venture will transfer to Senex its 100% stakes in western Surat Basin permits ATP 795, ATP 767 and ATP 8892. The QGC-operated permits are adjacent to Senex’s existing western Surat Basin acreage at ATP 771P and ATP 593P, in which it holds stakes of 45%. Once the swap is completed, Senex will hold net proven and probable gas reserves in the Surat Basin of 488 petajoules, up from previous estimates of 157 Pj.
