North Sea seen staging brief recovery by 2018

London—The UK’s oil and gas production is set to stage a brief and limited recovery within four years as infrastructure spending and output from new projects offsets rapidly declining volumes from the North Sea’s mature fields, according to consultancy Wood Mackenzie. UK oil and gas output will rise to 1.46 million b/d of oil equivalent in 2018 from 1.43 million boe/d this year, the Scottishbased consultancy said. The 2014 estimate means production staying the same this year as last year, as recent investment and improved efficiency arrest the steep declines of recent years, Wood Mackenzie said. It said the recovery in output to 2018 would only be temporary however.
