LLOG drills well next to Macondo

Houston-An exploration well has been drilled next door to what is arguably the US Gulf of Mexico's most famous block, although the operator of the new well so far has not revealed whether it is a discovery and is hold- ing its cards close to the vest. Privately held Covington, Louisiana-based LLOG Exploration recently drilled a well on a block next to the BP-operated Macondo well, according to records supplied by offshore leasing agency US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. Macondo, located at Mississippi Canyon block 252 offshore Louisiana, blew out in April 2010, creating the largest marine oil spill in US history.
