Tehran—Iran has reduced crude production in line with lower export volumes as a result of US and European Union sanctions, but is discussing crude sales contracts with potential new customers, including North Korea, and hopes to boost exports this year, top Iranian oil officials said over the weekend. Oil minister Rostam Ghasemi, speaking on April 20, declined to give figures for production and exports but said both had slumped in comparison with year-ago levels.
