UAE eyes 3 million b/d oil output capacity

Abu Dhabi—The UAE is to increase its oil production capacity to 3 million b/d over the course of 2013, from a current output capacity of around 2.8 million b/d, oil minister Mohammed bin Dhaen al-Hamli said. The UAE pumped about 2.6 million b/d of crude in December, Hamli told reporters on the sidelines of the Gulf Intelligence UAE Energy Forum in Abu Dhabi January 9. Hamli declined to elaborate on why the 3 million b/d capacity level had not been reached in 2012, as officials had previously predicted.
