Bangladesh BPC’s debts cleared through bond issue

Dhaka—The government has cleared all debts owed by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corp. to three state-owned commercial banks through the issue of special bonds worth Taka 59.22 billion ($759 million), BPC Chairman Mohammad Eunusur Rahman said Monday. The Ministry of Finance had taken on BPC’s debts to Sonali Bank, Janata Bank and Agrani Bank, he said. The ministry last week issued bonds in favor of the banks to clear all dues, he added.
