Petronas wants half of LNG from Canadian plant

Calgary—Malaysian state-owned oil company Petronas will take half the output of its proposed 12 million mt/year LNG export project planned for British Columbia to serve longterm global supply contracts. Michael Culbert, CEO of Petronas subsidiary Progress Energy Canada, said that as some long-term LNG supply contracts Petronas has with certain global firms are due to expire during the 2017-2020 period, the company will look to sourcing LNG from Canada and Australia.
