ExxonMobil starts up Kipper Tuna Turrum project

Sydney—The biggest oil and gas project on Australia’s east coast, the A$4.5 billion ($4.3 billion) Kipper Tuna Turrum project in the Bass Strait off Victoria, started producing this week. Gas production has begun from the Tuna field via two new pipelines and oil is being produced from the Turrum field through the new Marlin B platform, operator ExxonMobil said in a statement. Production from the Kipper field is expected to come on line in 2016, following the installation of mercury removal facilities.
