New York-NYMEX December crude settled 81 cents lower at $93.03/barrel Monday, weaken- ing late in the session after comments from a US Federal Reserve official suggested that tapering of the US stimulus plan could be close. William Dudley, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said Monday that he was "getting more hopeful" about a recover- ing economy and that he saw "nascent signs" of improvement, noting that the private sector was nearly recovered from the Great Recession.
