Moscow—Fears of a new natural gas dispute between Russia and Ukraine are intensifying after Kiev defaulted on its $882 million August payment for Russian gas supplies and Moscow said it was mulling a request that Kiev pay in advance for future deliveries. Ukraine’s state-owned Naftogaz Ukrayiny failed to pay Gazprom for its August gas supplies by the October 1 deadline as stipulated by a supplement to the long-term gas agreement between the two companies, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said in a statement.
