Moscow—Russia’s state-controlled Rosneft kept its cards close to its chest on January 14, declining to confirm whether well-publicized talks with China’s state-owned CNPC had touched on the issue of increasing Russian oil exports to China. There was speculation last week that China’s long-held ambition to increase its imports of Russian crude oil by pipeline could be moving closer, as Rosneft planned talks with CNPC to hike exports by 10 million mt/year (200,000 b/d) to 25 million mt/year.
