Changqing boosts CNPC’s April gas output

Singapore—Natural gas production from China’s Changqing block jumped 29% year on year in April to 2.83 billion cubic meters, or an average 3.33 Bcf/d, significantly boosting state operator China National Petroleum Corp.’s domestic gas output for the month. The Changqing block was originally developed for oil production but has been exploited for gas since the 1990s. It is now China’s largest gas producing block, accounting for nearly a third of the country’s total gas output. Changqing is located in central China, across parts of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia provinces. As of end-2012, it had total proven gas reserves of 22.52 Tcf.
