Upper Devonian Shale draws attention

Houston —While much of the gas industry’s attention has been focused on the Marcellus and Utica shales, another shallower formation in the Appalachian Basin—the Upper Devonian—has been making its way into the conversation and prompting talk of another “stacked” play in the Northeast. But analysts don’t expect the Upper Devonian to be the immediate game-changer that the Marcellus has proven to be.
