摘要

Washington—It will cost more this winter to heat homes with natural gas, propane and electricity, but homeowners, especially in the Northeast who rely on heating oil will pay less, the Energy Information Administration said Tuesday in its Winter Fuels Outlook. The EIA, the statistical arm of the Department of Energy, forecasts that the price of Brent crude will fall over the course of the winter heating season. The season is defined as October 1 - March 31, leading to a 5% drop in heating oil prices, despite what is expected to be a 3% rise in demand. Temperatures are forecast to be about the same as last winter, with the Northeast experiencing 3% colder temperatures and the West experiencing 3% warmer temperatures, the EIA said.
